Santa Croce

In a quiet area of the Santa Croce district, along the peaceful and silent fondamenta (paved walkway that lines the canal), the Hotel Olimpia is a few minutes' walk from the Basilica dei Frari – one of the largest churches in Venice – and from the Scuola di San Rocco, home to the extraordinary works of Tintoretto. Not far away, the Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista hosts conferences and important seminars in its magnificent frescoed halls; beyond Campo San Polo, you reach Rialto.

The symbol of Venice

The Rialto Bridge

Rialto and its bridge are one of the symbols of Venice. In addition to the famous fish market, there are bars and restaurants, souvenir stalls and fine shops selling glass and gold objects. Shopping continues along the haberdasheries, the city's historic commercial artery, lined with boutiques, leather goods shops, and Italian shoe shops, ending in Piazza San Marco – the city's drawing room – adorned with the stunning façade of the basilica and the Gothic outline of the Doge's Palace.

Food & Wine

In search of taste

If you're dreaming of a romantic and enchanting holiday, with a taste of Venice's typical delicacies, Hotel Olimpia is the perfect starting point. From here, you can stroll towards the Zattere, sip an aperitivo accompanied by a Venetian cichetto, and take in unforgettable sunsets. In front of you, the islands of Giudecca and San Giorgio frame the scene, creating moments to treasure forever. On your way back to the hotel, as you pass through the San Trovaso area with its famous squero (traditional gondola boatyard), you can stop at one of the excellent restaurants near Campo Santa Margherita – one of the city's main hubs for conviviality and relaxation.

Art and Culture

Accademia and surroundings

Originally designed in stone, then built in iron in the mid-19th century, and finally completed in wood in January 1933, the Accademia Bridge offers a fabulous view over Venice and the Grand Canal. From its highest point, you can admire the magnificent Basilica della Salute and the Punta della Dogana, which lead the eye towards the vast basin of San Marco. Inside the Gallerie dell'Accademia, don't miss the most significant collection of Venetian paintings from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century. And finally, you can't miss a visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, a private museum of modern art.
